The Champion Air Compressor company has been a leader and innovator in the industry for decades. The company was founded in Chicago in 1919. Early Champion innovations included the opposed piston compressor and the “Unimated” design which combined an aluminum casting and a cast-iron sleeve for improved heat transfer and durability. Champion’s oil-less compressors now make up its fastest growing line. Oil-less compressors are used in the medical, dental, pharmaceutical laboratory and food processing fields.
Champion’s RotorChamp line of air compressors features the rotary screw design. In a rotary screw design, air enters the compressor and is trapped between male and female rotors and compressed to the required discharge pressure. Rotary screw compressors operate at high efficiency in both full and part load situations. They have low installation costs, low noise levels and 100% duty levels. Both lubricated and oil free models are available. The RotorChamp line includes six different models with outputs ranging from 5-200 hp.
Champion’s lubricated air compressors are made for industrial, light industrial, home and construction applications. R Series Champion Air Compressors feature rugged cast iron crankcases and lined, domed cylinders that eliminate head gasket problems and improves efficiency. R Series air compressors are available in a base mounted model, a duplex model and gasoline or diesel models. R Series models are available with 1-35 hp.
Advantage Series air compressors are economical reciprocating units. There are fourteen different packages available in several different configurations.
Champion’s PL Series air compressors are designed for extreme duty applications. The PL series carry a 5 year warranty and are available in 3-35 horsepower.
Champion produces a CommandAir line of air compressors designed specifically for use in sprinkler systems and the Climate Control Series designed for use in climate control systems.
Champion also offers a complete line of aftermarket products such as lubricants, belts, filters and other replacement parts. In 1998, Champion was acquired by Gardner Denver. The acquisition has strengthened Champion’s overall product line.
